The First-Time Leaders Community includes...
Content: Learn at your own pace, with four hours of self-paced video content focused on building practical leadership skills.
Community: Membership includes two community calls per month, live online workshops with real-time feedback, and access to an exclusive Slack channel for you and your peers
Coaching: Bolster your skills in one-hour private coaching sessions with our expert coaches. Private sessions are optional and available in English, German, French, Spanish or Dutch.
An Overview of Our Leadership Training Program
Our First-Time Leaders Community kicks off in the month before you start your first leadership role.
Topics in Module 1 include:
- Self-awareness. What’s your leadership style? What beliefs limit your success? How do your values shape how you lead?
- Day 1. Your path to leadership success starts the moment you introduce yourself to your team.
- Mindset. Learn how a strategic mindset shift can help you manage expectations—both upwards and towards your team.
- Starter kit for the first weeks. Hit the ground running with tips on how to approach your first conversations with your team.
Settle into your first month with content that focuses on how you interact with your team.
Topics in Module 2 include:
- Motivation. What makes your team members tick. How can you tailor your managing style accordingly?
- Leadership style. Find the best match between your leadership style and your team’s needs.
- Delegation. Learn how to delegate effectively so that you can focus on your top priorities.
- Meetings. Develop a plan for efficient 1:1s and team meetings.
- Time management. Strategies to keep you calm and collected in your first month (and beyond).
- Team workshop. Get the most out of your (and your team’s) time with our practical workshop tips.
- Team psychology. A team is a collection of humans—and humans are complex! Learn how to anticipate your team’s anxieties and concerns.
As you continue to strengthen your leadership skills and settle into your role, you’ll find the following support in Module 3:
- The first 100 days. What you should (and shouldn’t) have accomplished in your first three months on the job.
- Developing your team members. A great team starts with a culture of knowledge-sharing and a strong atmosphere of professional learning.
- Peers. You don’t only work with people in your immediate team. Learn how to work effectively with your peers in leadership, too.
- Feedback: The delicate art of providing consistent, meaningful and empathetic feedback.
- Recruitment. Do you think about cultural fit when searching for new team members? (Spoiler alert: You should.)
- Remote leadership. How to build a trustful working environment, even if your team isn’t based in the same office.
This is where things get real. Module 4 will prepare you to tackle ongoing leadership challenges beyond your first 100 days, with content that focuses on:
- Change. Business realities change. How you handle these changes can say a lot about you as a leader. So can the ways in which you go about initiating changes of your own.
- Sandwich position. Nobody likes to be caught in the middle, but sometimes it’s inevitable. Learn how to pass on tough company news to your team.
- Conflict. Learn how to comfortably address and resolve conflicts—and how to model empathy for your team members.
- Team culture. Gain skills to help you shape an inclusive team culture, with active input from your team members.

Hi, I’m Katrin!
I’ve worked for many years in leadership development, both at a large multinational corporation and as founder of The Globe Team.
One thing that has always struck me is how much strong leadership matters. Great leadership skills can transform a team that struggles into a team that finds consistent success. That’s why I created The Globe Team. I believe that it’s essential to invest in leadership skills from the beginning, but not everybody knows where to start.
Here’s the good news: If you’ve found The Globe Team, you’ve found your starting place!
I’ve worked with 200+ team leaders across diverse countries and companies, specialising in building durable team-development processes and strategies for 1:1 coaching. After spending eight years at Airbus, I helped build leaders in startup environments such as Y Food, gridX, German Accelerator and Techstars. I’ve also worked with government organisations such as the German Federal Foreign Office and large-scale corporations such as DeutschePost DHL. Now, I want to bring my experience and empathy to your new challenge as a leader!
But a leadership community is about more than one person. While you’ll learn directly from me in our video series, you’ll also have the chance to engage with other expert coaches during community calls. All of our coaches have international backgrounds and leadership experience in corporations and start-ups.

A Scholarship to Help You Achieve Leadership Success
Several places throughout the year are reserved for scholarship recipients! To qualify, you’ll need to be a first-time leader working in an NGO, social business or civil society organisation. Do also get in touch if you are currently unemployed and the community would support you in your upcoming position.

- Introduction. Who are you and what does your organisation do?
- Impact statement. How many people will you be leading in your first team and how many will be impacted through your team’s activities?

Who is the First-Time Leaders Community for?
It is for:
- People stepping into their first leadership role in the coming months, or people who have recently stepped into this role
- People who are keen on self-development
- People who can share openly and reflect thoughtfully on their mistakes as well as their successes
- People who feel comfortable sharing about their own experiences in English
- People who are able to invest the time it takes to become a good leader from the start
It is not for:
- People who have already led a team for a number of years
- People who are not so keen on self-reflection
- People who don’t feel comfortable sharing their experiences with others, even in a confidential setting
Are you ready to become a more confident and capable leader?
FAQs
For Module 1, it’s good to plan about one hour of additional self-reflection. The other modules require about 15 minutes of self-reflection.
Yes, if you recently (i.e. in the last several months) took over your first leadership role. Just note that the content from Module 1 may not be as relevant to you. The rest of the modules, however, cover important general leadership topics and definitely bring great value to you in addition to the community exchange with other first-time leaders!
The community calls for the next cohort will be set at a later date. They will both take place via Zoom.
Each community call is a workshop that lasts 1.5 hours and consists of:
- Introduction
- Content input
- Exchange about the participants’ topics/peer coaching
- Wrap-up and actions for experiential learning between the community calls
1:1 individual sessions with our coaches are optional and can be booked additionally. They are not included in the price.
